Fat-soluble vitamins are easiest to overdose on, owing to the way they are stored by the body. Any excess of water-soluble vitamins can be expelled in urine, so it is more difficult for these types of vitamins to cause harm.

Minerals are essential to build strong bones and teeth and to control bodily processes such as turning food into energy.

There are two different types of minerals: essential and trace elements. As the name suggests, essential minerals are vital to maintain a healthy body and lifestyle. Essential minerals such as calcium and iron are found naturally in our bodies but also need to be gained from food. Trace element minerals are only needed in small quantities and are found in certain types of food.

Essential minerals can be found in meat, fish, dairy products and cereals. Trace element minerals are found in similar foods as well as in nuts and vegetables.
